Welcome friends new and old, thin and stout, squat or not to the Higher Hands Lowdown!

This Saturday is a special day! A lot of months have 31 days, but only one stands out in infamy among months with the notorious October 31st ritual of HALLOWEEN! That’s right, spooks, cats, punks, and drunks mingle with ghouls, mummies, bats, and fools amidst catalytic spirits against a vivid orange and black backdrop, and oh yes, there will be candy!

The place to be is the WHISKEY in ANNAPOLIS MD. Who wants to spend their entire night waiting in lines to get into the next bar, which promises only the exact same thing you waited in line for at the last two bars, over and over again? Make the Whiskey your destination and avoid all the hassles. Upstairs and downstairs will be rocking with Freaky Festivities, and you smokers can drink and smoke yourself silly on the porch and the deck. The party downstairs features LUCID (www.myspace.com/lucidtunes) and HIGHER HANDS! Upstairs is Dean Rosenthal’s annual Halloween bash. There will be a costume contest, plenty of prizes, and drink specials. HIGHER HANDS will be doing the only thing we can to top last year’s nanner suits, and you don’t want to miss it, TRUST ME! Higher Hands play downstairs from midnight to 1:30. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

The Preparty is at the Irish Channel in Crofton Friday Night. Come on out and practice getting freaky for Saturday. Show starts at 10pm.

Next week continues a recently discovered trend in live music nightlife. HIGHER HANDS will be opening for THE NEW MASTERSOUNDS again! This time we’ll be with these guys three nights in row, including a night in the Big Apple! THE NEW MASTERSOUNDS (www.newmastersounds.com) is a group of some of the world’s funkiest musicians, and their soulful throwback sound has landed them great shows, like the Bear Creek Music Festival, where they are headed when we part ways in NYC. The first night is Thursday Nov 5 at the State Theatre in Falls Church VA. The FOR QUARTERS COLLECTIVE (www.myspace.com/soulfull007) starts spinning records at 7:00 and HIGHER HANDS hit the stage at 9:00. The following night (Nov 6) join us at the 8x10 in Baltimore MD for another great night of the same. FOR QUARTERS starts the festivities at 8:00, HIGHER HANDS go on at 9:00. Saturday Nov 7 make plans to come on up to the Big Apple for HIGHER HANDS and THE NEW MASTERSOUNDS at BOWERY BALLROOM in southern Manhattan. These shows are definitely a chance for you to see some great music, so we hope to see all of you there to support us.
Thanks to all of our new friends, from shows as far back as Pigtown and as recently as Bonerama at the 8x10. Speaking of Bonerama, Mike Wilson at Soundbetter.net was fortunate enough to catch NIGEL HALL (Royal Family Artist, Soulive, Lettuce) performing with the HIGHER HANDS at the 8x10 a few weeks ago. He caught it with his microphone and if you’d like to hear it... stay tuned.
